LOVE this post Gill! As much as I love looking at Pinterest for party inspiration I often wonder where people find to time to be so creative! I tried to creat the perfect party for Marnie when she was one! She hated it and I was stressed! Going back to basics is all any kid needs – some sugar-induced fun with their friends! This post has made me think of my own birthdays on te 80’s and hundreds and thousand sandwiches, party rings and those pink wafer things were such a treat! Hope your little one has a brilliant party xxx

That hedgehog cake looks familiar! My mum gave me her Jane Asher’s Children’s Parties book from when I was little.

That sounds a lot like the parties of my childhood – I wonder if my mum had that book too! Certainly she had the Australian Women’s Weekly guide to party cakes which we poured over as kids for weeks before the big day – though my fifth birthday cake would take some beating, it had a stick of rock in the centre for a maypole and five little girls dancing round!
